This is the privacy statement of The Greater Good Foundation (“The Greater Good”), organizer of the 24 The Planet event (“Event”).

We process your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection regulations, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). This privacy statement explains which personal data we collect for what purposes and on what legal basis.

Data Controller
The Greater Good organizes the Event to raise money for Justdiggit, which aims to combat climate change by greening Africa. The Greater Good is the data controller within the meaning of the GDPR for processing personal data in the context of the Event, as described below.

Purposes of Processing Personal Data

Participation in the Event
When you want to participate in the Event, you create an account on the website www.24theplanet.com (“Website”). Your email address, telephone number, address, and date of birth are used to process your registration, allow you to participate in the Event, and inform you in the run-up to the Event. The emergency number is only used to inform in case of an emergency. The legal basis is the execution of the participation agreement.

Sponsoring
The Greater Good processes data such as name, email address, and payment details to execute the donation and send you a donation receipt. Via the participant’s personal page, you can also request to donate directly and thus make a donation anonymously. The legal basis is the execution of the agreement.

If you sponsor a particular participant, your name and donation will be provided to the participant. The legal basis for this is the execution of the agreement. You can also choose to sponsor anonymously.

You can draft a personal message posted on the personal page of the participant you sponsor. The legal basis for this is the execution of the agreement.

If you want your name and donation to be mentioned on the personal page of the participant you sponsor, you can indicate this. The legal basis for this is consent.

Information and Newsletter
The Greater Good keeps sponsors informed about the Event via email unless you have indicated that you do not appreciate this. The legal basis for this is the legitimate marketing interest of The Greater Good.

Website Security and Improvement
The Greater Good uses cookies and techniques similar to cookies. We do this, among other things, to secure the Website and improve the Website. You can request The Greater Good to obtain your own personal data in a structured, commonly used, and machine-readable form and transfer it to another organization when data processing is automated and based on consent or an agreement.

You can request The Greater Good to withdraw a once-given consent.

The Greater Good may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this Privacy Statement. These third parties act as a processor for The Greater Good and we ensure that these parties provide sufficient guarantees regarding the security measures and careful and lawful processing of personal data.

When you make a donation, the payment details will be processed by the payment service provider Mollie.

Otherwise, The Greater Good only provides data to third parties with your prior consent or if we are obliged to do so under laws and regulations, if we are compelled to do so as a result of a lawsuit and/or if we deem it necessary to protect our own interests or the interests of third parties.

Transfer Outside Europe
Your personal data will only be stored or processed outside the European Union (and the EEA) by The Greater Good or third parties engaged by The Greater Good if this is in accordance with the applicable regulations for the transfer of personal data to countries outside the European Union. This means that we will only transfer your personal data to countries outside the European Union if the European Commission has decided that the relevant third country guarantees an adequate level of protection, or if other appropriate safeguards are provided, such as an adequacy decision (for example, the EU-US Privacy Shield) or the use of unaltered standard data protection clauses approved by the European Commission. Personal data may not be stored longer than necessary. The determination of the retention period depends on the purpose for which The Greater Good has collected the data and any legal obligations to retain data.
